Porphyry Press
Alaska-based micropress, Porphyr Press, needed an identity to launch its first title and set a tone for future publications. Unlike large publishing houses, Porphyry Press publishes one or two carefully selected books a year, focusing on literary and cultural merit while championing marginalized voices and Alaskan perspectives—the peak of true story telling.
The final idendtity is clean and modern, with colors drawn from the distinctive hues of porphyry rock. The mark transforms the mountain line of Porphyry Ridge in McCarthy, Alaska, into the shape of open book pages—each one symbolizing a new adventure. This identity reflects a boutique, place-based approach while positioning the brand within the national literary landscape.
